WATCH: How to Keep Your Cool
In this video, I explore six simple strategies for keeping your cool and appearing calm and in control when you’re at risk of your feelings bubbling over. These ideas are designed for times when you’re supporting a child who is anxious or angry and you know they’ll benefit from a calm adult but you’re struggling to inhabit that space…
LISTEN: The Role of Play
In this episode of the Pooky Ponders Podcast, I take you on a captivating journey into the world of play and its profound influence on child development. Discover how play serves as a potent catalyst, enhancing cognitive development, nurturing emotional regulation, cultivating social skills, promoting physical growth, and enriching language proficiency in our young minds.

READ: The Secret Life of Rose (The Autistic Experiene)
“The Secret Life of Rose covers a range of topics that are central to the autistic experience. While Rose writes peer-to-peer, her mum Jodie adds the perspective of an adult who is also a professional in the field. The end result is a book that opens up the autistic experience in a way that is both fresh and accessible.”
SMILE: An Uphill Struggle
Having run away to the sunshine for December in a bid to beat SAD, I’m fighting it back in the English January by getting out on my bike every day. It’s working; partly due to the fresh air and conversation (riding a tandem is very sociable) and partly because it so often gets very, VERY silly. When route planning goes awry, or mud totally stops play we find ourselves falling about with laughter in a month that has historically seen me crippled with depression and anxiety.
